Season of Firsts

Well, we have survived August so far. Busy isn't event the word. Not as crazy as this past May, but a close second. August has been a good kind of busy, and we are trying to avoid getting caught up in the chaos and focus on enjoying the moments.

First time in "Big City" (XKidz City, the kid's program at church). Sophie was over-the-moon excited about moving into "Big City," and the "welcome sno-cones did not disappoint!

First Pet
Oh, my! This poor guy was found on a walk by Sophie and a babysitter! She begged to keep him, and, for some unknown reason, I said yes! Of course, Sophie forgot to put him back in his crate on the Monday before her first day of kindergarten began, so we had no "pet" to fill out the "pet page" over her "All About Me" homework!

First Big Boy Haircut (Not the actual first haircut, but the first one that made him look about four years old!) Our beloved family hairdresser says his curls will come back as he grows, but I couldn't let him be mistaken for a girl! I mean, look at him, he is not a pretty girl! I am a little bit sad that my baby looks four years old!

First Fish (second pet...)
Of course, I wouldn't follow Matt's advice, and write "N/A" on the "Pet Page," so off we went to the pet store two days before the first day of school. Meet Bob. We hope he likes is pink home!

And the biggest first of this month... First Day of Kindergarten!
We could not be more proud or excited! Sophie was born for school, and she is already an amazing reader and a curious learner. Matt and I are so thankful to have found MAFA and Cordis Academy, and we believe Sophie is in the perfect school for her! The overall report was "great day," and we are all looking forward to what the year will hold!
