June: Life in the Fast Lane

Matt officially started at TPC at the beginning of June, and while I knew the semi-calm, pretty routined life we led in Georgia would change a bit with our move back to middle Tennessee, I could never have foreseen the chaos this month would bring.

The first week of June, Matt was thrown into the whirlwind of a short first week of work (Memorial Day was Monday and TPC was off on Tuesday), kids who were desperate for his attention (they hadn't seen him in weeks), a dicey move into the condo (living out of suitcases with kids who were staying up until after midnight), and a very last minute camp change thanks to the oil spill in the Gulf.

The second week of June was VBS. Crazy busy week complete with crazy early mornings for our late night loving crew! As if VBS were not enough, this week was also the trial our family has been waiting on for over four years. (I intend on writing more about this later when I'm sure I have decided what I want to say.) Needless to say, this was an amazingly emotional and stressful week. Matt left for 14 days of camp on Saturday after VBS, just about 8 hours after the verdict came in on Friday night!

The third week of June was mostly decompressing from the trial, getting used to Matt being gone again, and getting ready to go out of down. Oh, and mom falling while holding Lillie, blood, what we thought was a broken nose, and Sophie screaming "my sister died" on the sidewalk in front of the condo. You know. Nothing big. Did I mention Matt was out of town? With our new insurance cards? Two doctors appointments later, we had just a very swollen nose for Lillie and a near nervous breakdown for Patti-Grams, but all's well that ends well.

The fourth week of June found our family of five in three different states (and Lillie and I travel as a unit), and at one point, none of us were actually in Tennessee! First trip to the beach for Lillie, a trip to visit their great-great grandfather for Sophie and Will, and Matt finishing up 14 days of camps!

We can't wait to be back together all under one roof, and slow things down just a bit. We are hoping to exit the "fast lane" at least a little bit, and travel just a bit more slowly in the month of July!
