May Days

May is known for being hectic in our family, tied only with December for crazy busyness. Last year, we celebrated Tori's wedding, Sophie's end of year play and recital, Mother's Day, Dad's birthday, Hope's graduation, and Sophie's best friend Jack's birthday. (By the way, the morning of Jack's party, I found out I was pregnant with Lillie - a little more unexpected excitement for the month of May!)

Well, I'm not sure we've topped last year, but we're off to a great start! So far this month, we've...
  • taken a trip to Six Flags (my first and last while living in Atlanta)
  • celebrated Aunt Tori and Uncle Derek's first anniversary with them (Rosa Mexicana in Atlantic Station - so fun!)
  • announced Matt's resignation from Crossroads and our move to Tennessee (so bittersweet because though we are thrilled about the new opportunity at TPC, we have loved Crossroads so very much)
  • experienced Lillie's first fever (didn't turn out to be bad, just a cold, but still scary as I've never had a baby this young with a fever!)
  • packed up all of the kids clothes and many of their belongings
  • attended our last day of school at MAFA
  • attended Sophie's last day of school at Cordis
  • run a dress rehearsal for end of year play at MAFA
  • moved furniture from Birmingham to Franklin (this one didn't actually involve me, but most everyone else in the family worked like dogs to get this one accomplished)
  • directed/acted in end of year play at MAFA (I directed, Soph was an angel)
  • drove to Franklin immediately after the play to celebrate Mother's Day, Dad's birthday, and Lillie's dedication the very next day!
  • After a Mother's Day/Dad's birthday lunch, saw Tori and Derek's gorgeous new home that they will move into next week!!!
  • Celebrated our commitment to raise Lillie under the Lord's guidance with most of our family, including MeeMaw, Papa, Aunt Pammie, Patti-Grams, Tato, Aunt Tori, Uncle Derek, Aunt Hope, Vasya, and of course, our whole crew! (Pictures to follow!) Making the night even more special, Lillie was dedicated with Cole, my very best friend, Ashley's youngest son. Cole and Lillie are almost one year a part to the day! I can't wait to get the pictures of the two of them!
And we are just getting started! I'm making a return trip to Atlanta to continue packing before we get ready for Tori and Derek's big move next week! Then, Matt, the kids and I will move into Tori and Derek's two-bedroom condo while we wait for our house to sell! (That should make for some interesting blog posts!) Oh, and we have Jack's big 5th birthday we are looking forward to as well! We have no clue how not to have a crazy-busy May, but we are thankful for all the blessings that are keeping our May Days full of excitement!

Sophie's 8th Birthday

Sophie had one of her most perfect days on her 8th birthday, and I loved that we were able to give her a dream-come-true day! She woke up to a birthday breakfast, but without our typical doughnuts because we were headed straight for the Franklin Farmer's Market. We showered her with art supplies and an Ariel birthday sign, and she was thrilled about all of them!  At the Farmer's Market, Sophie roamed around like the gypsy she is, thrilled to have $10 (instead of her usual $5) to spend! You can't imagine how much Sophie can buy with $10 at the Farmer's Market! When honey sticks are going for a quarter, that can make for a long day! It was hotter than blue blazes, and we'd brought Aunt Tori, Uncle Derek, Aunt Hope, and Zoe, so over half our crew had to head inside The Factory before Soph had finished her shopping, but not before we all enjoyed treats and lunch from Biscuit Love!  After the Farmer's Market, we all head to Honey's, a new candy

Happy 31st Birthday!

Happy 31st Birthday Matt! Most people say things like, "I can hardly believe it's been a year since we fill-in-the blank... My, where does the time go???" Well, I know where the time since your last birthday has gone. It's been right here backing over us like a mack truck! All I can think as I remember last Halloween is how has it only been one year since you were celebrating your 30th birthday by going to a Halloween bash designed for teenagers while Aunt Pam and I took the kids trick-or-treating in the rain? It seems like at least three years ago since you and I were in the house with a princess throwing a fit about something while Aunt Pam was on the front porch knocking on the door to let us know our dragon had just made himself throw up to avoid wearing his costume. With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility

"The boy" turned five, and it came as no surprise to anyone who's had a conversation with him in the past year that he wanted a superhero birthday party! He's fairly obsessed with all things superhero, and his absolutely favorite is Spiderman. Will had a great actual birthday (Matt stayed home from work, we went to an indoor play park where he ran into a buddy, and then we celebrated with the family at Aunt Pammie's). But his birthday party was like watching his dreams come true. We had superhero training at an indoor play park, but in reality, it was he and his buddies, playing their hearts out being as rough as they could be and then topping it off with cake, lemonade, and sno-cones! Of course, Mr. glass half-empty nearly had a meltdown because his party was "too short," but at least I knew that he had the time of his life! The highlight of the party was when his friends made a tunnel and he rode a motorized bike through the tunnel of friends chant
